Mary Grace Cafe Scholarship

What is Mary Grace Cafe Scholarship?

This is a new scholarship of AFS Philippines fully-funded by Mary Grace Cafe, and in partnership
with AFS Indonesia and AFS Malaysia through the AFS Asia and the Pacific Initiative pledge of
scholarship in 2023! This scholarship is available for Filipino High School Students who are
interested in being culturally immersed in Indonesia or Malaysia for a Trimester Program (11
weeks) from July to December 2025.

This commitment ensures that more Filipino high school students have access to international
education, including AFS cultural immersions. These experiences have been proven to help
students develop skills that make them globally competent individuals actively contributing to
creating a more just and peaceful world for everyone.

This scholarship opportunity is exclusively available to Filipino high school students interested in
cultural immersion experiences in Malaysia or Indonesia.

What is the duration of the program?

This is a trimester program that typically begins in July and ends in December of every year. (This depends on the program dates of the host country). This allows the students to:

Attend local school and participate in school activities
Cultural and Language enrichment program
11 weeks of homestay experience

What else is included in the program?

What the scholarship will not cover?

The scholarship will not cover the following;

Domestic travel to/from place of origin
Costs to process travel documents such as passport, DSWD travel clearance, Certified
True Copy of Documents, PSA Birth Certificate, etc.
Medical examinations, including but not limited to TB skins test (if required by host
country)
Immunization and vaccinations required by the program and host country
Treatment and/or medicines for Pre-existing medical conditions and allergies, dental care, and eye care
Excess or overweight baggage costs
Personal expenses and trips during the program (personal trips are subject to the approval of host country)

Can I still join other AFS scholarship programs, like Asia KAKEHASHI Project+, once I participate in this program?

No. Just like other programs of AFS, this scholarship includes the same content such as home-stay experience, attending local school and activities, and volunteering. Since scholarship programs have limited spots, this aims to expand the access of AFS intercultural learning opportunities for all Filipino high school students interested in cultural immersion.

Students who already received scholarships from AFS, or any programs facilitated by AFS, are NOT eligible to apply to other scholarship programs of AFS Philippines.
