AFS has recently launched the Global Competence Readiness Index Tool or the Global Index Survey, where educators and schools at any grade level will be able to evaluate how prepared they are in developing their students’ global competence. The tool proves beneficial and advantageous since it provides recommendations and resources in terms of launching, developing, and improving intercultural programs and other activities. Through the tool, the participants will also be able to see how competitive their school is compared to other institutions in preparing their students for the future global arena.

The Global Index Survey was introduced during the Education and Career Fair held last July 11-12 at the Marquee Mall in Angeles City, Pampanga where  8-10 teachers from different Public and Private Institutions in Pampanga participated in the survey. The tool was also introduced during the 10th International Conferences on Teacher Education (ICTED) hosted by the College of Education of the University of the Philippines last August 23-25 at the Seda Vertis North in Quezon City. In the said event, 20 teachers participated in the survey. From both events, a common feedback made by the participants was that the Global Index Survey should be made more official and be introduced to more schools, for it to become standard schools and other educational institutions.

The Global Index Survey offers educators and schools a well-rounded approach to global competency and intercultural development for students whether one is simply at the beginning stages or further looking for ways to set itself apart.
