What is SIIC?

The Summer Institute for Intercultural Communication gathers hundreds of professionals in the field of intercultural learning every July in Portland, Oregon. With 40+ workshops to choose from, SIIC is an excellent opportunity to hone your intercultural skills and learn from renowned faculty in the field of intercultural communication.

There are 40+ workshops are available to choose from, in either 5-day, 3-day or 1-day formats. Check them out here.

What scholarships are available?

  • Tuition Scholarships for Volunteers and Staff: these scholarships waive course tuition except for an administrative fee that must be covered by the participant. These do not cover travel, or room and board. (Expect room and board to be between $685 to $800 USD for a 5-day course depending on the type of accommodation).
  • Supplemental Scholarships for Volunteers: up to ten $200 to 800 supplemental scholarships are available to help cover the costs of accommodation and/or travel in the form of reimbursement (see breakdown for scholarships in the attached brochure).

Who can apply?

Volunteers and staff with an intermediate or high level of ICL exposure. Volunteers who have not attended SIIC before are welcome to apply for the supplemental scholarship.
