The AFS Ramon Magsaysay Technology University (AFS-RMTU) school club successfully conducted a community outreach project in the lahar-laden area of Botolan, Zambales, with activities such as reading, simple mathematics solving, feeding program, exchanges of cultural artifacts such as dances, and an overnight immersion in the community involving the pupils, parents and community leaders of Owaog-Nebloc Integrated School on December 19-20, 2017.
For the members of the club and the hosted participants from Germany, Hungary, Italy, and the USA, the project was an opportunity not only to help marginalized communities but also to help themselves to become more aware of pressing societal concerns and to act on them proactively. Certainly, it was an experience that will continuously remind them to be selfless and to give when they are able to.
