2026 Regional AFS Youth Assembly Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

RYA welcomes students, young professionals, youth leaders, volunteers, community organizers, social entrepreneurs, and aspiring changemakers from across the Asia and the Pacific region who are passionate about leadership, intercultural learning, and creating positive social impact.

The Regional AFS Youth Assembly will take place from November 19–21, 2026 at Lyceum of the Philippines University – Cavite Campus in Cavite City, Philippines. The Assembly is designed as an in-person experience to maximize collaboration, intercultural exchange, and networking.

RYA is jointly organized by the AFS Asia and the Pacific Initiative (AAI) and its regional partner organizations, with hosting led by AFS Intercultural Programs Philippines alongside institutional and community stakeholders.

Yes. The Regional AFS Youth Assembly is open to young people 16 to 35 years old who are passionate about leadership, intercultural learning, and creating positive social impact. Applicants must also meet the additional eligibility requirements outlined during the official application period.

RYA features three thematic tracks that explore key issues affecting the Asia-Pacific region:

• Youth Leadership, Governance, and Social Change
• Future-Ready Skills for a Changing World
• Global Citizenship and Peacebuilding

Additional information on track selection and participation will be shared before the Assembly.

Action Circles are multidisciplinary teams where participants collaborate throughout the Assembly to develop practical, community-based solutions to shared challenges. These teams work together to design project roadmaps that can be further developed after the event.

The official working language of RYA is English. Participants should be comfortable communicating, collaborating, and presenting in English throughout the Assembly. 

The Assembly registration fee includes access to all official program sessions, workshops, learning materials, conference meals during the Assembly, and a Certificate of Participation. Accommodation and airport transfers are available through separate accommodation packages.

Yes. Participants who successfully complete the Assembly will receive an official Certificate of Participation from AFS Intercultural Programs.

Participants are encouraged to bring:

• A valid government-issued ID or passport
• A laptop or tablet (if available) for collaborative activities
• Business casual attire for conference sessions
• Comfortable clothing for interactive activities
• Any required travel documents

Scholarship coverage varies depending on the sponsor. Some scholarships may cover the Assembly registration fee, while others may also include accommodation, travel expenses, or other program-related costs. Applicants should refer to the scholarship guidelines provided by their local AFS organization.

Scholarship applications are coordinated through participating AFS organizations. If scholarships are available in your country, your local AFS office will provide information on the application process, requirements, and deadlines.

Yes. Applicants may apply for RYA while also applying for available scholarship opportunities, provided they meet the eligibility requirements and complete all required application materials by the specified deadlines.
