9/12/2009 - De Leon, Maba to represent YES PHI in Malaysia Workshop
After passing a rigid national screening process, Don Michael Acelar De Leon (YES 2004) and Nur Hussain S Maba (YES 2005) were selected as finalists to the third YES Alumni Training of Trainers workshop in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from October 24 to 29.
De Leon and Maba bested 12 other applicants all over the Philippines.
Hazel Shine S Santos (YES 2007) and Alaykka A Fowler (YES 2008) have been selected as alternates.
Upon official confirmation from AFS USA, De Leon and Maba will attend the 2009 AFS World Congress Gala Dinner on October 24 and participate in the five-day workshop with fellow YES alumni participants.
The YES Alumni Training of Trainers Workshop is designed to improve the training and leadership skills capacity of YES Alumni.
Furthermore, the workshop seeks to begin formation of a group of YES alumni within each country who can serve as a training resource and take on leadership roles in alumni training and presentation needs.
At the end of the workshop, De Leon and Maba are expected to conduct a presentation or a training seminar to share the insights and techniques they have learned from the workshop.
