10/16/2009 - After Ondoy: AFS Philippines in Action

Dear AFSers,

In the aftermath of Ketsana/Ondoy and Parma/Pepeng supertyphoons, we at AFS PHI are appealing for your kindhearted generosity, wherever you are in the Philippines or anywhere else in the world as a PHI scholar or hosted participant. If you cannot join the volunteers in the field – as some of the NCR chapter members are already doing – helping pack the clothes, food, clean up, etc. we then ask you to consider helping through the AFS PHI fundraising effort.

Some of our fellow AFSers in Luzon have been badly hit by this double calamity and we would like to help them. If you have the good fortune not to be affected, it would be a good idea to mobilize and round up your schoolmates, friends and family in your own community to help donate funds. This is now our chance to show that the spirit of volunteerism is alive in us.

We have already secured verbal approval from AFS IPP Chair to use AFS IPP bank account, as follows:

Bank Acct. Name: AFS IPP
Bank Address: Banco De Oro, EDSA, A. De Jesus Branch, Caloocan City, Metro Manila
Banco De Oro Dollar ($) Savings Acct No 3890026022
Banco De Oro Peso (P) Current Acct No 3890032421

Important for monitoring purposes: Please email (scanned jpeg or pdf file to info.philippines@afs.org) or fax +63(2)929-5750 a copy of the deposit slip to AFS Philippines for our file and confirmation, remember to write subject: SUPERTYPHOON.

If your home has been hit be the storms, kindly let us know, too.

Once again It is very important to increase awareness of these natural disasters and to let others know that many Filipinos in Luzon are counting on us to help. We are hoping for a positive response to benefit those who are in dire need.
