Exchange students learn to broaden their outlook, interact with all sorts of people, and become independent individuals. They also improve their communication skills and often acquire a new language.

By living in an international community, they become more flexible and sensitive towards others while developing lifetime bonds of friendship with their host families and other exchange students.

The country also benefits from the exchange programs of AFS. When Filipino AFS exchange students go abroad, they become ambassadors of goodwill.
